Arts Council England, Yorkshire is the region’s development agency for the arts, promoting the value of the arts and distributing public money from the Government and the National Lottery. It has the ambition to place the arts at the centre of the region, reflecting and promoting Yorkshire’s rich and diverse cultural and artistic identity. Based in Halifax and Thirsk, it provides Arts and Business services throughout Yorkshire and Humberside. Arts and Business Yorkshire’s mission is to help strengthen communities by building and developing creative and effective partnerships between the corporate sector and the arts throughout the region. It is the worlds leading non-profit making organisation working within this field.
Audiences Yorkshire
Audiences Yorkshire is the leading audience development agency for the Yorkshire region. It works with a diverse range of arts and cultural organisations representing performing arts, literature, visual arts, music and tourism and heritage. Audiences Yorkshire’s aim is to help arts organisations to develop, retain and increase the types and numbers of audiences engaging with the arts. It is a member organisation, although it does also support non-member organisations on a consultancy basis.
AXIS
Founded in 1991, Axis provides a unique information resource for arts professionals and enthusiasts to research, commission and engage with contemporary artists. Axis exists to champion the work of artists by presenting authoritative information about their practice, enabling artists to profile their work to an expansive audience. Axis is host to the largest directory of professional artists practising in the UK, comprising detailed biographies, images, film and audio clips. Axis also collaborates with a network of artists, curators, commissioners, academics and visual arts writers to deliver a series of tailored programmes and projects designed to capture new trends and developments in contemporary art practice.
Chrysalis Arts
Chrysalis Arts is a centre of excellence for rural creative industries and growing the creative economy, based in North Yorkshire. It has been very successful at levering funds for rural renewal and has a reputation for innovative public art and adventurous work. It has a strong commitment to the belief in the positive contribution that the visual arts can make to social and economic regeneration, promoting the role of the creative industries within the rural economy.

CIDA
Creative Industries Development Agency
CIDA was established in January 2000 to provide infrastructural support to the development of the creative sector in the Yorkshire and Humber region. CIDA works across the creative sector, in areas such as Performing and Visual Arts; Crafts; Media; Design; PR; Advertising and New Technologies, assisting regional businesses and freelance practitioners through a range of activities. The company was set up to develop key strands of work within the creative sector including Recruitment, Continuing Professional Development and Cultural Diversity.

Creative & Cultural Skills is the Sector Skills Council for Advertising, Crafts, Cultural Heritage, Design, Music, Performing, Literary, and Visual Arts. It is an industry-led organisation, providing a real voice for employers of both large and small businesses, delivering powerful influence over the supply of education and skills right across the UK.
Creative People
Creative People is a national network of organisations. These organisations individually supply a training and professional development (CPD) information, advice and guidance service to current and aspiring arts and crafts practitioners.
Launched as a pilot in 2001, supported by the Arts Council England, the network is a virtual organisation. The network provides this site and other mechanisms for sharing information and best practice; lobbying for increased resources for professional development in the arts and crafts; providing sector intelligence. The network does not supply specific training or fund organisations or individuals.
Creative Yorkshire
Creative Yorkshire is the focal point for support and the development of the creative industries in Yorkshire and the Humber regions. It is raising the profile of creativity in the region, and contributing to its development as a place where creative people can live, work and prosper. Creative Yorkshire draws upon the combined strengths of Yorkshire Forward, Arts council England, Yorkshire and the University of Leeds and a wider network of businesses, development companies and local authorities.

Rural Arts
Rural Arts North Yorkshire is a charity providing an outreach arts programme across North Yorkshire. It develops participatory initiatives focusing on marginalised groups and communities, working in remote rural areas as well as market towns. One such initiative is the ‘On Tour’ rural touring programme – a programme of live theatre, dance and music which takes place in local halls.

WiRE (Women in Rural Enterprise) - North YorkshireYCCC
WiRE is a national business club for rural women, offering a dynamic member package of practical and specific business services and support for women in rural enterprise. WiRE is unique in its approach to business help, invaluable to all rural businesses at any stage, from the established or growing business, to new or potential businesses.
WiRE members are diverse in terms of geographical location, age, type of business and business aspirations. There is no typical business and no typical WiRE member, it doesn’t matter where you live, rural is a state of mind not a postcode.
