Science City York offers comprehensive fully-funded business support services to  technology-based businesses in York and North Yorkshire*, whether they are new business start-ups, early stage businesses, or established companies looking to grow.

The support provided has made a real difference to many technology businesses, helping 80 new companies to 'get off the ground', and creating more than 2800 new jobs in the York area since 1998.

Science City York employs three dedicated Business Promoters who can assist technology entrepreneurs to:

The Business Promoters are experienced business managers with backgrounds covering both technology development and new business growth.  Drawing on their own backgrounds, as well as experience in advising many successful early-stage businesses, they are a valuable resource for businesses needing a mentor, sounding board, business advisor - or simply an encouraging ally.

The Business Promoter service is well established and is supported by both Yorkshire Forward and Business Link, enabling the service to be provided without charge to technology-based businesses and start-ups in York and North Yorkshire.

In addition to the Business Promoter service, Science City York also offers business development services specific to supply chain issues and skills for business.  By accessing a combination of dedicated business development support, and general support through cluster involvement, the aim is that Science City York provides an infrastructure and culture that enables technology businesses to successfully become established, grow and thrive.
