Innovative Surgical Instruments at Arab Health
Downs Surgical, who have been manufacturing surgical instruments for more than 120 years, will exhibit their full range of products, with particular focus on their ENT range and orthopaedic implants; particularly the Huckstep system.
Downs have seen a rising interest in their ENT range in the Middle East following an international event held there in March 2007; organised by Downs Surgical and the Royal College of Surgeons England.
The event, held in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, saw more than 70 senior surgeons from throughout the Middle East exchange the latest advances in ENT surgery with key surgeons from the UK.
Also being exhibited is the Huckstep locking nail; used clinically in the treatment of thousands of patients with complex femoral, humeral and tibial trauma. It is made from titanium alloy because of its ability to reduce the risk of infection and it is a light but strong material.
The Huckstep revision hip is used in many difficult hip and femoral replacements, and its key features include a plasmapore coating which increases implant stability and encourages good osteointegration.
Downs will also have available at the event to view and order, their updated catalogue of 5000 products – 2000 more than the previous edition – available now as an interactive CD too.
