Command Performance

One of Britain's best-loved actors, Sir David Jason, is to open a major new exhibition at Elvington's Yorkshire Air Museum.

The actor will open the 'Against The Odds' display on Wednesday, March 19, at noon.

Produced in association with the Imperial War Museum, the exhibition is designed to educate people about the role of Bomber Command during the Second World War.

Sir David, an aviation enthusiast and honorary member of the Yorkshire Air Museum & Allied Air Forces Memorial, is expected to fly himself in to the museum by helicopter for the opening.

Museum director Ian Reed said: "This exhibition is the result of several years very hard work and we are grateful for the help of the Imperial War Museum in this venture.

"It is probably the most fitting place in Britain for it to be located and we are especially pleased that our life member, Sir David Jason, has agreed to undertake a very rare public appearance on our behalf."
