Arts in Your Village - Free Event on 12 April at Rural Arts
Saturday 12 April 2008 - The Old Courthouse Thirsk
This free one day event is aimed at bringing village representatives together to look at ways of promoting arts activities locally. It will showcase examples from around the region, explore current funding opportunities and assist you to set up your own project.
It will take place at the recently restored Old Courthouse in Thirsk, the home of Rural Arts, and will include a homemade lunch and magical entertainment!
The day will start at 9.30am and finish at 4.00pm although there is the opportunity to stay for a film show presenting local archive footage which will form part of a new initiative to develop an interactive online resource from 7.00pm - 9.00pm.
Speakers will include The Arts Council, Local Authorities, English Heritage, The Yorkshire Film Archive and Terrington Arts.
There will be an exhibition of work by community groups, including: textiles, ceramics, mosaics, film, photography, heritage trails and community websites.
Breakout discussion sessions and the chance to take part in some hands-on art taster sessions in fused glass and bonded textiles appliqué also form part of the day.
