ICCOM UK Work with The Dean and Chapter of York
This work encompasses the new York Minster Revealed project – a very exciting opportunity to bring the Minster and all its activities, history and resources to the public, through the use of the most up to the minute technologies.
ICCOM are delighted to be involved with The Dean and Chapter of York's vision to make York Minster one of the most innovative and interactive visitor attractions in the country. However, providing the necessary infrastructure to turn this into a reality, in a building of such historical importance as York Minster, presents a unique challenge – and one ICCOM UK relish.
Having been successful in the tendering process ICCOM's brief is far reaching. Essentially it is to future proof the Dean and Chapter of York’s entire telecommunications and IT infrastructure, spanning 30 sites and incorporating The Minster, for decades to come.
ICCOM have installed a core fibre network and updating to the schools, colleges, libraries and the Minster itself are in the process of being carried out.
