Letter from Helen Perkins, former Creative York Coordinator
“Having left Science City York at the end of last year I am so pleased that one of our existing members has been successful in replacing me, being appointed as Creative York Sector Specialist.
"I have every confidence that Heather will continue to develop and strengthen the exciting activities and opportunities for the Creative sector in York and North Yorkshire. It is such a hive of activity which speaks volumes still when I talk to people in other parts of Yorkshire and the UK.
"In my time at SCY I met such an array of people with such passion and drive for what they do. I had the pleasure of working with and helping a number of businesses and freelancers across North Yorkshire and the results of which (I saw some at the event on 27 June!) speak for themselves!!
"I am happy I could have been there for those who needed a friendly voice at the end of the phone or just wanted to run some of their ideas past someone – this is the kind of assistance which I really feel that money can’t buy!!
"For those of you who attended the event on 27 June, it was so lovely to catch up with you and hear all your news and I hope to stay in touch though Creative York and attending events when I can.
"So what now? Well since I returned from my short time in the USA helping my parents with their new business venture – Gladrich Florist, I have been motivated by the people within the Creative Work network and have now returned to work within the creative industry myself.
"As Account Manager for MezzoFilms I am now responsible for working with an array of clients on their film, interactive, moving graphics, audio and music requirements and I am loving it! One thing I definitely realised with my three months career break is that working everyday is something you should enjoy and, in our case, something creative is one of the most exciting and ever changing areas to work in – enjoying something you do makes for a more productive and successful outcome – good business and happy clients/audience!!!
